Having been in the hairdressing industry for over twenty years’ ten of which were spent as a manager at a salon within a large franchised hairdressing group, I decided to take some time out to evaluate what the industry means to me, research how our lifestyles have evolved and, most importantly, consider what clients really want from their stylist and salon experience.
The target driven, time-sensitive appointment schedule in many large salons can lead to a ‘conveyor belt’ experience for clients and the noise and general hustle and bustle often hampers the stylist's ability to provide a tailored and personal service in a relaxed and peaceful manner. This is neither conducive to comfort nor creativity.
